Tedlab Reading and Listening Experiments -- Week of June 19th Experimenters: Tessa, Dan, Duane, San Contact: 253-8423,tedlab@psyche.mit.edu (email preferred) We are currently running three kinds of experiments (described below). Some of these are NEW!! Multiple experiments are generally combined in a single session of 45-60 minutes. Pay: $10 for 45-60 minutes; prorated for shorter sessions *!* Please read the eligibility criteria below. To sign up, let us know the following: 1. If you have been to the lab before. (By native speaker we mean that you learned English before the age of five and have used it consistently since then.) Also, you need to know little or nothing about linguistic theory or language processing (if you know what an "anaphor" or a "garden path" is, then you may know too much; if you're not sure about your level of knowledge, we can discuss it). ** Study Descriptions: A. Self-paced reading: Prep3, NRRC2 (*NEW as of a week ago*), New-Old-1 (*NEW as of a week ago*) You will sit in front of a computer and read sentences word-by-word (to yourself, not out loud) at your own pace, by pressing the space bar. Following each sentence is a simple yes/no comprehension question. B. Listening: IntC *NEW* You will sit in front of a computer and listen to sentences over headphones. Following each sentence, you will rate how hard it was to understand and answer a simple yes/no question about it. C.
