
A citizen leadership and advocacy training initiative for Consumer/Survivors/Expatients.
The leadership Academy is a training process involving citizenship, advocacy,
leadership, and organizational skills for groups of consumers.
Resulting outcomes of the Leadership Academy training have included an increase
in empowerment and networking, better understanding of the working of systems,
development of individual and organizational skills and an improvement of
leadership skills of individuals and organizations involved in behavioral
health.
GOALS OF THE MASSACHUSETTS LEADERSHIP ACADEMY:
To train consumers to have an integral role in shaping mental health services
in Massachusetts
To convene a stakeholder committee of key funders and providers who have commitment
to empowerment & recovery
To create support for consumer leaders to develop statewide consensus
Creating consensus: exploring deep enough in our hearts & minds to find where there is agreement
